GREENWOOD – It was announced Sunday evening that the Lander women's golf team earned selection to the NCAA Division II South Regional next week.

The regional will be contested at Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tenn., May 4 through May 6. It marks the third South Regional appearance for the Bearcats in the last four years.

Lander, currently ranked seventh in the country and No. 5 in a stacked South Region, visited Cleveland Country Club in their season-opening tournament back in September.

In that aptly named event, the NCAA DII South Regional Preview, the Bearcats finished third in a field of 16 teams. Kajsa Lindqvist tied for fifth with Sakurako Tanaka close behind in a 13th-place tie.

LU will enter the regional after placing second in the Peach Belt Conference Championship at The King & Bear Golf Course in St. Augustine last week.
