NINETY SIX, S.C. – Riding the wave of momentum from its win in the Greenwood Women's Invitational a week ago, the No. 7 Lander women's golf team nearly went back-to-back this week and finished runner-up by three shots at the 2026 Grand Harbor Classic. The Bearcats posted a combined 286 (-2) in both the second and third rounds to climb into contention and earned their sixth top-three of 2025-2026.
Hosted by Anderson at the Patriot Golf Course, No. 1 Wingate earned the win at one-under-par. The Bearcats were +2 and 11 shots ahead of a third-place tie between No. 10 Lee and 13th-ranked North Georgia.
AU, the third-ranked team in the nation, was fifth at +17. The field featured seven Top 25 programs – four of which are in the Top 10.
Sakurako Tanaka glided up the leaderboard this afternoon with a scintillating 67 on the par-72 course. That tied for the lowest round of the week for any of the 104 players in the field. She had eight birdies alone during the round and it catapulted her 16 spots into a fourth-place finish at two-under. Tanaka finished with 15 birdies – the third-most in the tournament.
Teammate and this week's Peach Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Week,
Kajsa Lindqvist, tied Tanaka at -2. The Sweden-native went 71/70/73 this week while making 12 birdies and 33 pars. It was her sixth top-five of 2025-26, and eighth top-10.
Isabel Ewers (+2) was rock-solid and tied for 10th. She posted scores of 73/72/73 and made 12 birdies and 28 pars.
Josefine Winkle (+6) showed some poise after a first-round 78 by following it up with a 71 in the second round and a 73 to close out the tournament. She made 10 birdies and 32 pars while tying for 28th.
Lara Stifter (+14) contributed to the scoring in the first round with a 76. She also had a 76 in the second round and finished with a 78 today. Stifter carded seven birdies and 31 pars.
The Bearcats will begin preparations for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament April 19-21 in St. Augustine, Fla., at The King & Bear Golf Course at World Golf Village. LU are the defending champions.
