Shively, Philcox Lead Lander Sweep of Conference Carolinas Weekly Awards

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Conference Carolinas announced its weekly awards Tuesday, with Lander acrobatics & tumbling sweeping the honors as junior Ashlyn Shively was named Athlete of the Week and senior Rhianna Philcox earned Specialist of the Week.

The recognition marks the third Athlete of the Week honor this season for Shively, while Philcox collects her first weekly award of the year.

Shively delivered a dominant all-around performance, competing in 12 heats plus the team event for 13 total appearances. She posted the highest score in the conference in nine of those heats while serving as a primary base in pyramid 1.

Among her standout marks, Shively recorded a program-record 9.65 in compulsory acro and a perfect 10.0 in compulsory pyramid, both of which were the top scores in the conference this week. She also led the conference in 5-element acro (9.85), 7-element acro (9.80), pyramid heat 2 (9.85), toss heat 2 (8.75, tied), and tumbling heat 3 (7.65).

Shively added a 9.90 in pyramid heat 3, tying for the highest score in the conference this week and marking a season high. She contributed to a team event score of 86.90 as the Bearcats posted a total score of 263.700, outscoring competitors by more than 6 points this week.

Philcox anchored Lander's acro event with two of the top scores in the conference, competing in both the 5-element and 7-element heats. She scored a 9.85 in the 5-element acro and a 9.80 in the 7-element acro, leading all conference athletes in both categories for the week.

Her performance helped the Bearcats post a combined acro event total of 29.15 out of 29.85, showcasing consistency and precision across the lineup.

Lander will be idle this week as it awaits final seeding for the Conference Carolinas Championship. The Bearcats have officially clinched a spot in the tournament and remain in contention for a share of the regular-season title.

Lander can secure a share of the conference championship with one Wingate loss and would clinch at least the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye with a Montevallo loss. Wingate controls its path to the outright title with wins over Montevallo and Newberry, while Montevallo remains in the mix with a pair of wins.
