Shively named Conference Carolinas Athlete of the Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Lander junior Ashlyn Shively has been named the Conference Carolinas Athlete of the Week for acrobatics and tumbling, marking her second weekly honor of the season.

Shively delivered a standout all-around performance, contributing in every event and competing in 13 heats to help lead the Bearcats to a conference victory over Converse. Her efforts helped Lander post the highest team score in the conference this week.

A key contributor in the compulsory event, Shively helped Lander record a 37.60, one of the top marks across the NCATA this week, by competing in every heat. She also recorded a 9.75 in the toss 1 heat, which currently stands as the top score in that heat across the division and is matched only by Division I programs.

Shively has also made an immediate impact after recently being added to the seven-element acro heat. After posting a season-high score in her debut last week, she surpassed that mark again in the Bearcats' most recent meet.

Throughout the meet, Shively set multiple season highs and program records, including:

Compulsory acro - 9.35 (season high)
5-element acro - 9.9 (season high)
7-element acro - 9.65 (season high)
Duo pyramid - 9.9 (program record)
Open pyramid - 9.85 (season high)
Back salto toss - 9.75 (program record; tied for highest score in the NCATA this season)

Her performance was instrumental in Lander's success and shows her role as one of the team's most impactful athletes.

Lander closes the regular season on Wednesday, March 25, against Newberry College. The meet is set for 6 p.m. in Newberry, S.C.
