Lander Rises Past Montevallo, Earns Spot in Conference Carolinas Championship

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The No. 2-seeded Lander Bearcats delivered a commanding performance Saturday afternoon, defeating the No. 3-seeded Montevallo Falcons 258.280-253.750 in the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship.

With the victory, Lander (8-2) advances to the championship meet, where it will face top-seeded Wingate Bulldogs, who defeated the No. 4 Coker Cobras 256.960-247.345 in the other semifinal.

Lander set the tone early, edging Montevallo in the Compulsory 37.025-36.400 and maintaining its momentum throughout the meet. The Bearcats showcased consistency across events, particularly in Pyramid, where they posted a 28.850 to top the Falcons narrowly, and in Tumbling, where they extended their advantage with a 52.400 score.

Montevallo (6-4) kept the contest tight in the Acro, Pyramid, and Toss events but could not overcome Lander's steady execution and depth. The Bearcats also closed out strong in the Team Event, helping secure the 4.530-point margin of victory.

The meet was competitive through the first half, with Lander holding just a 93.375-93.075 edge at the break. However, a strong second half (164.905) allowed the Bearcats to pull away and punch their ticket to the final.

Sunday's championship sets up a highly anticipated rematch between Lander and Wingate. The Bulldogs narrowly defeated the Bearcats during the regular season, 252.365-251.925, setting the stage for what promises to be a tightly contested title meet.

The championship will take place at Emmanuel in Franklin Springs, Georgia. Tickets must be purchased online, with no cash accepted at the venue. Options include an $18 all-tournament pass, $10 general admission, and free entry for children 12 and under and for Conference Carolinas students with a valid ID.

The championship meet between the Bearcats and the Bulldogs is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, at 5:00 p.m. in Franklin Springs, Ga.
