No. 7 Lander Wins Greenwood Women’s Invitational

GREENWOOD – The seventh-ranked Lander women's golf team captured the team title at the Greenwood Women's Invitational, finishing with a 54-hole total of 886 (298-290-298) at Greenwood Country Club.

The win marks Lander's first tournament victory of the season and came in a strong field that featured four additional teams ranked inside the top 50 nationally.

Lander created separation in the second round, posting a 2-over 290, the lowest round of the tournament, and carried that momentum into the final round to secure a 15-shot victory over second-place and 21st-ranked Erskine (901) on the par-72, 6,037-yard course.

The Bearcats were led by Kajsa Lindqvist, who placed second overall at 2-over 218 (72-71-75) to earn All-Tournament Team honors. She posted two rounds at par or better over the three-day event and has now earned all-tournament honors in three of four events this spring.

Isabel Ewers added a fourth-place finish at 222 (75-73-74), while Sakurako Tanaka placed fifth at 223 (75-71-77). Both earned All-Tournament Team recognition with consistent play across all three rounds.

Lara Stifter finished 15th at 230 (82-75-73), rebounding from her opening round with back-to-back strong scores, while Josefine Winkle tied for 22nd at 234 (76-82-76) to round out the lineup.

As a team, Lander led the field in par-3 (3.32), par-4 (4.21) and par-5 scoring (4.95). The Bearcats also recorded a tournament-best 32 birdies and ranked second with 171 pars.

Lander wraps up the regular season next week at the Grand Harbor Classic, held at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C. The 54-hole tournament begins Monday, March 30, with two rounds and concludes Tuesday, March 31.
