HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – On the course for the second week in a row to kick off the spring season, the No. 16 Lander women's golf team earned a Runner-Up finish in the Battle at Hilton Head at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Palmetto Dunes this week.

Kajsa Lindqvist finished second overall and made the All-Tournament Team. The field was right at the century mark of 100 competitors.
The Bearcats were +38 on the Oceanfront course as the winners from Wingate were +18. There were four Top 25 programs among the competition – the Bulldogs are No. 1 in the country – with LU besting ninth-ranked North Georgia by three shots in third.
Lincoln Memorial (+43) and Erskine (+45) were also in the top-five; No. 10 UIndy finished 23 shots behind the Bearcats in seventh. The Blue and Gold had the lowest first-round score (+14) and were second-best in Round 2 (+9).
Lindqvist completed her week at four-over 292 – Wingate's Amely Bochaton was the only competitor to finish under-par at an incredible -7.
Lindqvist rebounded from an opening-round 78 with a 69 in Round 2, which was the second-lowest round carded all week, and closed with a 73 this afternoon. The Sweden-native tallied the second-most birdies in the field during the tournament (9) and the ninth-most pars (35).
Sakurako Tanaka finished second for the Bearcats for the second consecutive week at +7. She tied for sixth place by shooting 73/76/74 and made birdie six times to go along with 37 pars (fifth-most).
Josefine Winkle (+10) provided consistency in third for the Blue and Gold with rounds of 76/75/75. The junior earned a Top 15 result in an 11th-place tie with five birdies and 34 pars.
Fellow junior
Isabel Ewers was +17 and tied for 30th. Ewers scored 75/77/81 as she sank four birdies and 32 pars.
Lara Stifter was +25 and carded six birdies over her three rounds.
LU will return to competition in three weeks' time in the Dr. Jerry Surratt Memorial on March 9-10 at Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe, North Carolina.
