ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Playing at St. Johns Golf & Country Club in Lincoln Memorial's Spring Intercollegiate Kickoff, the No. 25 Lander men's golf team finished 7th out of 18 teams over Monday and Tuesday.
The challenging and competitive tournament featured seven top-25 programs as No. 8 St. Mary's (Texas) finished at one-over par and 10 shots up on the field to claim the win.
No. 18 North Georgia was second, 13 shots ahead of both No. 7 Georgia Southwestern and No. 10 Catawba who were +24. No. 6 Wingate (+28) was fifth and Flagler (+36) was a slot ahead of Lander (+43).
Edward Rahm tied for 19th and led LU by closing with his best round of the week today, a one-under 71. He made three of his four birdies this afternoon and also made an eagle in each of the first two rounds.
Brady Duval was next on the board for the Blue and Gold at +12. He carded scores of 74-75-79 in tying for 37th.
Cathal Penney was two shots behind his teammate in a tie for 46th while shooting 75-76-79.
Freshman
Filip Yngfalk's (+17) middle-round 73 was his best score of the week. He had a trio of birdies during that round and earlier scored an eagle in his opening round.
Noah Curdt (+19) was fifth for LU. He opened with a pair of 80s yesterday but improved to a 75 in the final round.
Lander has next week off from competition before returning to the course at the Oldfield Classic in Okatie. USC Beaufort will host the tournament at Oldfield Club.
