MCCORMICK, S.C. – Competing for the second straight week, the Lander women's golf team finished in fifth place out of 15 at the Savannah Lakes Fall Invitational at Monticello Golf Club.
The host Bearcats were +29 for the week and were only seven shots out of second place, which was occupied by Florida Southern (+22). Lee won the tournament by 10 strokes, with Carson-Newman taking third at +24 and West Florida, fourth, at +27.
Kajsa Lindqvist showed consistent form with rounds of 70-71-72 to finish at three-under in sole possession of fourth. The Sweden-native – who was named to the All-Tournament Team – had the second-most birdies in the field with 11. She was also T2 in par-3 and par-4 scoring average.
Though playing as an individual,
Josefine Winkle was next on the board for the Bearcats in a 14th-place tie at +8. Her second-round 71 was her lowest of the week and she tied for third in par-5 scoring average.
Lara Stifter's second appearance for Lander saw her shoot scores of 74-75-77 as she was the second scorer in the lineup and tied for 21st overall.
Next among the scorers was
Isabel Ewers (+14), and she carded her best round of the tournament today with a 73. Her 38 pars were fourth-most in a field of 87.
Tied with Ewers in 36th were
Sakurako Tanaka and
Felicitas Kampshoff. Tanaka shot 77-75-78 while Kampshoff went 73-78-79.
Rachel Bowen and
Emilyn Davis, playing as individuals, were +24 and +27.
The Bearcats will compete next at Lincoln Memorial's St. Simons Intercollegiate at The King and Prince Golf Course in St. Simons Island, Georgia. The tournament will be held on Oct. 6 and 7.
