Lander Volleyball Completes Perfect Run at Redderson Invitational

GREENWOOD - Lander capped off a perfect weekend at the Redderson Invitational with a 3-1 victory over Winston-Salem State on Saturday evening at Horne Arena. The Bearcats (5-2) went 4-0 in the tournament, rallying after a tight opening pair of sets to secure the win with scores of 27-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-14.

After splitting the first two sets, Lander shifted momentum by hitting .306 in the third and never looked back. The Bearcats closed out the match with their most dominant frame of the weekend, limiting the Rams (2-3) to .116 hitting in the fourth.

Karson Browning powered the attack with 18 kills on .429 hitting and added three blocks. Katie Miller followed with 17 kills, three aces, and 15 digs, while setter Enisilina Savelio turned in a versatile performance with 43 assists, 19 digs, and 11 kills. Libero Emmi Cheek anchored the defense with a match-high 29 digs.

While the headline numbers stood out, role players proved crucial in turning the match. Middle blockers Amelia May and Alyssa Tegeler combined for five blocks, helping Lander slow down Winston-Salem's top hitters in key moments.

The victory also marked a bigger step forward for Lander, which opened the season 1-2 but has now won four straight heading into the following weekend of action.

The Bearcats return to action Sept. 19 in the PBC/Gulf South Crossover, opening against Mississippi College at 11 a.m. at the University of South Carolina Aiken. Tournament information is available here.
