Bearcats roll past Chowan and Saint Anselm on Day 2 of Redderson Invitational

GREENWOOD - Lander volleyball made a statement on Day 2 of the 2025 Redderson Invitational, cruising to back-to-back straight-set sweeps over Chowan and Saint Anselm on Friday at Finis Horne Arena. The Bearcats controlled every phase of play to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Match One - Lander 3, Chowan 0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-15)

Lander opened the day with a dominant win over Chowan, hitting .267 as a team while holding the Hawks to just .086.

Katie Miller led the attack with 16 kills on .412 hitting, adding three aces and six digs. Setter Enisilina Savelio fueled the offense with 29 assists and eight digs, while Sam Alwardt served a match-high five aces. At the net, Alyssa Tegeler posted four blocks to anchor the defense.

The Bearcats surged late in the second set to pull away and then closed out the sweep with efficient hitting and intense serve pressure in the third.

Match Two -  Lander 3, Saint Anselm 0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-11)

In the nightcap, Lander continued its momentum, sweeping Saint Anselm while holding the Hawks to just .011 hitting. The Bearcats hit .272 as a team in the victory.

Miller again led the way with 10 kills and five aces. Karson Browning added seven kills and an impressive five blocks, while Savelio tallied 20 assists and eight digs. Libero Emmi Cheek recorded a team-high 12 digs to steady the back row.

After a competitive opening set, Lander controlled the match, dominating the second and third frames behind aggressive serving and significant blocking.

Lander will wrap up the 2025 Redderson Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13, against Winston-Salem State at 5:30 p.m. at Finis Horne Arena. Admission is free. If matches finish early, the next warmup will begin five minutes after the previous contest, so start times may move up. Fans are encouraged to arrive early.
