HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Lander men's golf team improved by five strokes and climbed to 10th on the leaderboard before play was suspended with six groups – from other schools – yet to finish the second round of the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Friday.
The No. 16 Bearcats (+9) are two shots back of Palm Beach Atlantic in ninth, and four back of USC Aiken and Georgia Southwestern who are tied for seventh.
North Georgia is 18-under and holds an 11-stroke lead over Wingate as the tournament heads into its final day.
Aaron Lin carded a two-under 70 today – five strokes better than his opening round. This round included five birdies, and he now sits tied for 31st at one-over.
Victor Larsson (+3) is tied for 47th after shooting 74 in the second round.
Also improving over the first and second rounds was
Edward Rahm. He posted a 73 in Round 2 and made eagle on the 532-yard par-5 14th – as Larsson did yesterday – and is now +4.
The fourth and fifth Bearcats on the leaderboard are
Noah Curdt (+5) and
Gaston Edberg (+12). Edberg bounced back after the first round and tied for the second-lowest Lander score of the day, 73, with three birdies.
