Six Bearcats Named NWCA Scholar All-Americans

MANHEIM, Pa. – Six members of the Lander wrestling team have been named National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-Americans, as announced by the organization Monday afternoon.

The six honorees mark the program's second-highest total in a single year, trailing only the 2022 and 2023 squads, which each had seven student-athletes recognized.

The Bearcats earning Scholar All-American honors are: Nathan Bukovich, Oran Decker, Charles Higdon, Hayden Lawter, Isham Peace, and Marvelous Rutledge.

Peace received the award for the third time in his career, joining Zeth Brower (2022, 2023, 2024) as the only Bearcats to be named Scholar All-Americans on three separate occasions.

Lawter was named for the second time, joining Brower, Peace, Bryson Ethington, and Randy Myers as multi-time honorees.

To be eligible for NWCA Scholar All-American honors, a wrestler must meet one of the following criteria:

Be an All-American at the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships with a minimum 3.00 GPA
Qualify for the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships with a minimum 3.25 GPA
Compete in four or more events while maintaining a minimum 3.50 GPA
