Sheeren Earns Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Week Honors

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Sophomore Isaac Sheeren has been named the Conference Carolinas Wrestler of the Week following Lander's opening weekend of competition, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. It marks the second straight season that Sheeren has earned the honor in the first week of action.

Sheeren, who also received the award in his collegiate debut last year, dominated the heavyweight bracket at the Georgia Open on Sunday. The seventh-ranked wrestler in the country recorded back-to-back technical falls and two decision victories to claim the tournament title. He capped his run with a 9-4 win over sixth-ranked Gabriel Jacobs of Life University in the championship bout, securing Lander's lone individual crown of the day.

The No. 2-ranked Bearcats open Conference Carolinas action this weekend, traveling to Hartsville, S.C., for a tri-match against Coker and UNC Pembroke on Friday. Lander will then take on Division I Campbell on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. on the deck of the USS Yorktown in Charleston, S.C.
