LENOIR CITY, Tenn. – In a tightly-packed field at the Tennessee River Rumble at WindRiver Golf Club, the Lander men's golf team (+17) placed sixth out of 20 teams. Six top-25 teams competed in the tournament – Lander moved up to No. 19 last week.
Third through eighth were separated by six strokes while host Lincoln Memorial (+6) won the tournament by one shot over North Georgia. Lenoir-Rhyne, Grand Valley State and Wingate were third through fifth.
Gaston Edberg finished in a tie for 23rd at +5 for the week. His impressive second-round 67 was chock full of birdies with eight.
Victor Larsson carded scores of 72-76-74 to finish tied for 30th one shot behind Edberg.
The third Bearcat scorer was
Edward Rahm at +7. Like Edberg, his middle round was his best (71) when he had a trio of birdies.
Jake Wakeford saved his best for last with a 70 in the final round on Tuesday that featured four birdies.
Noah Curdt (+10) tied with Wakeford with a 72-73-81 scoring line.
The Bearcats have next week off and will compete again at West Florida's Argonaut Invitational on April 7 and 8. The tournament will be held at Pensacola Country Club.
