Bearcats Power Past Newberry in Game One, Drop Game Two in High-Scoring Battle

Newberry, S.C. - The Lander Bearcats (8-4) put on an offensive clinic in game one against Newberry (7-13), securing a dominant 15-0 victory, but the Wolves bounced back in game two, using a massive third inning to give Lander a 13-8 loss.

Game One - Lander 15, Newberry 0 (5 innings)

Lander's offense was unstoppable in the opener, launching five home runs on their way to a run-rule victory over Newberry. The Bearcats wasted no time setting the tone, plating four runs in the first inning, highlighted by Raquel Camuglia's two-run double and Samantha Bumgarner's two-RBI single.

The power surge came early and often, with Emily Allen (2 HR, 3 RBI) and Bella Angeli (2 HR, 3 RBI) leading the charge. Bumgarner added a solo shot as the Bearcats launched homers in three consecutive innings.

On the mound, Kamryn Akins (5.0 IP, 4 H, 7 K, 0 R) was dominant, earning her fourth win and second shutout of the season.

Key Performances: With five home runs and 17 hits, Lander's offense was firing on all cylinders in one of their most dominant performances of the season.

Game Two - Newberry 13, Lander 8

The second game started hot for Lander, with Camuglia launching a grand slam in the first inning to put the Bearcats up 4-0 early. However, Newberry answered back with a seven-run third inning and a five-run fifth, fueled by Lindsey Evans' three-run homer and Morgan Staples' grand slam.

Despite solo homers from Allen and Camuglia, Lander couldn't close the gap as Newberry's 14-hit outburst proved too much. Alyssa Grimes (0.1 IP, 3 ER, L) took the loss in the circle, while Lindsey Foster (7.0 IP, 8 ER, W) went the distance for the Wolves.

Key Performances: The Bearcats will look to bounce back in their next series as they continue to build on their strong offensive performances.
