Lander Takes Down Coker to Extend Win Streak to Three

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Lander University continued its strong start to the season with a dominant 6-1 road victory over Coker University, improving to 3-1 overall and extending its win streak to three matches. The Bearcats controlled play in both singles and doubles, securing another convincing team performance.

Doubles Recap

Lander started strong in doubles play, securing the crucial doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Harry Pugh and Brendan Jayaprakash led the charge at the top spot, claiming a 6-3 victory over Tom Lamers and Gijs Van Asdonck.

At No. 3 doubles, Markus Sorensen and Ludvig Danielsson battled through a tight set to edge out Andy Huynh and Joao Moreira with a 7-5 win, clinching the early advantage for the Bearcats.

The No. 2 doubles pair of Max Barriere and Benjamin Bates put up an intense fight but fell in a close 5-7 loss to Benedikt Wittmann and Samuel Winter.

Singles Recap

Lander carried its momentum into singles, winning five matches to secure a dominant team victory. Harry Pugh made quick work of Tom Lamers at No. 1 singles, cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 win. Ismail ElShafei followed up at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Benedikt Wittmann, putting the Bearcats in control.

At No. 6 singles, Brendan Jayaprakash delivered another solid performance, defeating Gijs Van Asdonck 6-3, 6-4. The lone setback came at No. 4, where Markus Sorensen fought back from a set down but ultimately fell in a tight 3-6, 6-1, 7-10 battle against Samuel Winter.

Lander sealed the win with victories at No. 5 and No. 2 singles. Mouad Naoui came through in a competitive first set before pulling away for a 7-5, 6-2 win over Andy Huynh, while Merlin Bellet wrapped up the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Sharif Vossen, giving the Bearcats a 6-1 overall victory.

Order of Finish: 1, 3, 6, 4, 5, 2
