GREENWOOD, S.C. – Lander University Head Men's Lacrosse Coach
Anthony LePore proudly announced today the hiring of former University of Maryland and Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) standout,
Curtis Corley, as the program's new Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator.
Corley brings an elite level of defensive expertise and experience to the Bearcat sideline, transitioning directly from a highly successful professional and collegiate playing career.
"We are thrilled to welcome
Curtis Corley to the Lander Lacrosse family," said Coach LePore. "Curtis understands what it takes to compete and win at the highest levels of the sport. We are eager and excited to add someone with his background and experience to our staff."
Corley made his mark as an All-Conference and All-American defender at the University of Maryland. A four-year letter winner for the Terrapins, Corley was a crucial component of a defense that captured two Big Ten championships and the 2017 National Championship.
Following his decorated career in College Park, Corley continued to excel professionally. He was drafted into Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and transitioned to the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), where he played for the Redwoods Lacrosse Club. Following his professional playing career, Corley has had successful coaching stops at Lexington High School, Shawnee High School, Newberry College, Columbia College, and Iona University.
"I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to join the coaching staff at Lander University," Corley said. "I am passionate about teaching the defensive side of the ball and helping student-athletes reach their full potential, on and off the field. I look forward to working with such an enthusiastic group of young men and building an elite defensive unit."
Corley's duties will include overseeing all aspects of the Bearcat defense, opponent scouting, and recruiting. He begins his role immediately.
