GREENWOOD - The Lander University volleyball team closed its regular season Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to Flagler College at Horne Arena, falling 25-22, 25-17, 19-25, 25-21. Despite the setback, the Bearcats secured an 18-9 overall record and a 10-5 mark in Peach Belt Conference play, locking in the No. 3 seed for next week's PBC Tournament in St. Augustine.
Lander put together a strong statistical performance, outhitting Flagler overall at .176 to .169 and out-blocking the Saints 17-6, but Flagler capitalized on late-set runs to take the match.
Katie Miller once again led the Bearcats' attack, finishing with 18 kills on .300 hitting to go along with 13 digs, three blocks, and 21 total points.
Enisilina Savelio delivered a standout two-way performance with 10 kills (.350), 29 assists, and five blocks.
Karson Browning added 10 kills and 13 points, giving Lander a balanced offensive trio.
At the net,
Amelia May totaled six blocks, while
Alyssa Tegeler and Savelio each added five, contributing to Lander's dominant presence at the net. Defensively,
Emmi Cheek led with 14 digs, followed by Miller's 13 and freshman
Quinn Butler's 12.
The Bearcats' strongest moment came in the third set, where they hit .281 behind one of their most efficient offensive stretches of the afternoon. Lander held Flagler to .000 hitting in the frame to extend the match.
Lander now turns its focus to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, hosted by Flagler in St. Augustine, beginning Friday, Nov. 21. Tournament information will be available on
