Miller Becomes Conference’s All-Time Kills Leader; Lander Advances to PBC Semifinals

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Lander volleyball rolled into the Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinals on Friday afternoon, topping Middle Georgia 3-1 in the quarterfinal round while witnessing a historic milestone from one of its greatest players.

The Bearcats (19-9, 10-5 PBC) secured the win with set scores of 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, and 25-17, powered by a balanced offensive effort and a standout defensive performance that produced 97 digs.

The afternoon belonged to senior outside hitter Katie Miller, who officially became the Peach Belt Conference's All-Time Career Kills Leader during the match. Miller entered the contest needing 11 kills to surpass the previous mark of 1,906 held by UNF's Jackie Struck since 2004. Miller finished with 18 kills, pushing her new career total to 1,914, a number poised to grow as the Bearcats continue their postseason run.

"Katie's achievement is remarkable, not just for our program but for the Peach Belt Conference," Lander Athletic Director Brian Reese said. "To break a record that has stood for more than two decades speaks to her consistency, talent, and competitive drive. We're incredibly proud of her and grateful for the impact she's had on the Lander volleyball program."

Miller's night also included 19 digs, two aces, and 20.5 points overall. She was one of three Bearcats to finish with double-digit kills, joined by Ryleigh Willard and Karson Browning, who each posted 13. Enisilina Savelio steered the offense with 46 assists while adding 15 digs and a service ace.

Defensively, Emmi Cheek anchored Lander with a match-high and a new career-high 30 digs, helping limit Middle Georgia (6-22, 0-15 PBC) to a .057 hitting percentage. The Bearcats hit .234 as a team, highlighted by a .343 mark in the third set and a .314 clip in the fourth.

Lander advances to Saturday's semifinal round, where they will face No. 2-seeded Augusta, continuing its pursuit of its first-ever Peach Belt Championship with its record-breaking leader at the forefront. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the Flagler Gym.
