#7 Lander Closes Regular Season with Second Straight 4-0 Win Over Coker

GREENWOOD – Seven days after defeating Coker 4-0 in Hartsville to close out South Atlantic Conference play, the seventh-ranked Lander Field Hockey team repeated the performance at home, defeating the Cobras by the same 4-0 scoreline on Saturday afternoon at Frank Hill Stadium to close the 2025 regular season.

With the win, Lander (13-3) tied the program record for single-season wins (13), matching the mark set by the 2023 SAC Championship team. The Bearcats had already secured the No. 3 seed in next week's SAC Tournament and will host a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday night.

The victory marked Lander's fifth consecutive shutout, extending the program record. It was also the third time in the last four games that the Bearcats held their opponent without a single shot attempt.

Victoria Hulst opened the scoring in the seventh minute, recovering after whiffing on her initial attempt and firing a low shot off the backboard for her sixth goal of the season. Puck Hoenderdos doubled the lead in the second quarter with her second goal of the year, assisted by Dusty-Rose Miller, to give Lander a 2-0 lead at halftime.

After holding an 8-0 shot advantage through the first 30 minutes, the Bearcats pushed even harder in the third quarter, outshooting Coker 11-0, though five saves from the Cobra goalkeeper kept Lander off the board.

The pressure paid off in the final frame, as Lauren Punt cleaned up a rebound following a defensive save to make it 3-0 before assisting Olivia Bond on a late tally to cap the scoring at 4-0.

Lander finished with a commanding 33-0 edge in shots and 17-0 advantage in penalty corners.

The Bearcats will host a South Atlantic Conference Tournament quarterfinal at Frank Hill Stadium on Tuesday night. Match details and opponent information will be announced once the final bracket is released by the league office.
