Penaflor and the Bearcats Block CAU from First Win

GREENWOOD - The Lander University volleyball team dominated the court on the final day of the Redderson Invitational with a convincing 3-0 victory (25-10, 25-16, 25-11) over Clark Atlanta at the Finis Horne Arena. With the win, the Bearcats improve to 3-1 overall, and the Panthers fall to 0-4.

The Bearcats asserted their strength from the outset, holding Clark Atlanta to a negative hitting percentage in both the first and third sets (-0.091 and -0.167).

Lander's offense was on fire, led by none other than Katie Miller, who notched 14 kills and contributed seven digs. Lauren Dow controlled the match with 23 assists and added four service aces to her tally.

Blondie Penaflor had an outstanding match, anchoring the defense with five blocks. She also contributed four kills, two service aces, and two digs on the night.

UP NEXT
The Bearcats will travel to Murfreesboro, N.C., for the Chowan Tournament hosted by Chowan University. Lander will open the tournament with a match against Auburn University Montgomery (Ala.) starting at 2 p.m.
