McCORMICK, S.C. – Finishing up with the third and final round this afternoon at the Monticello Golf Course, the Lander men's golf team wound up in a tie for seventh place at 2-under with Georgia Southwestern in the Bearcat Fall Invitational.
Shooting a 289 (+1) today gave the Bearcats a total team score of 862 for the week. North Georgia (-28) won the tournament by seven strokes over West Florida.
Jake Wakeford, whose score did not count toward Lander's, finished a team-best 4-under for the week after firing off a 4-under 68 today to finish T10th. Of the scoring contingent,
Edward Rahm led the way in a tie for 22nd place at 2-under after shooting a 73 in his third round.
Noah Curdt, another individual player, shot a 215 this week (-1), just ahead of teammate
Victor Larsson (even par) who was the second-highest Lander scorer along with
Cody Brenner; Brenner shot a personal tournament-best 2-under today.
Gaston Edberg tied his first-round effort with a 73 in the final round to close the tournament at +5 to complete the Bearcats' scoring.
Lander has two weeks to prepare for its next tournament – the North Georgia Mizuno Intercollegiate in Gainesville, Ga., at the Chattahoochee Golf Club – on Sept. 23 and 24.
