Montevallo, Ala. - Lander outscored Montevallo 9-4 in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as the Bearcats fell 19-16 to open up conference play.
The Falcons scored the game's first three goals, but A Carter Wilcox goal at the 12:!7 mark put Lander on the board. Later in the quarter, the Bearcats got back-to-back goals from Alex Ellis and Kyle DeCrispino to cut the deficit to 4-3. Montevallo responded with four straight goals to extend their lead to four and went into the half leading 10-5.
Trailing 15-7 heading into the final 15 minutes, Lander would mount a comeback with three straight goals to open the quarter and outscore the Falcons by five, but it would not be enough.
DeCrispino led the Bearcat offense, scoring seven goals with one assist. Zane Dalpe and Chase Hanson added two goals. Wilcox had a team-leading three assists to go with one goal.
