Belmont, N.C. - Belmont Abbey scored seven straight goals in the second half to break open a one-goal game at the half and held on for a 14-10 win over Lander Saturday afternoon.
Kyle DeCrispino scored the game's first two goals, and Sean Reilly added another to give the Bearcats the early 3-0 lead. After the Crusaders cut the lead to 3-2, Carter Wilcox scored 2:11 into the second quarter to give Lander a two-goal lead. The Crusaders answered with four straight goals to take a 6-4 lead with 3:55 left in the half. DeCrispino would score his third goal of the half with 1:34 left to make it a 7-6 game heading into the break.
Belmont Abbey outscore Lander 4-0 in the third quarter to take an 11-6 lead. The Crusaders scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter to make it a 14-7 game. The Bearcats would try to rally, scoring four straight, but it would not be enough as Belmont Abbey held on for the win.
DeCrispino led the Bearcats with three goals and two assists, while Wilcox added a goal with three assists.
