GREENWOOD - In a top-20 matchup, #18 Florida Southern pulled away from #20 Lander, winning 15-10 Monday afternoon.
Nolan Oakey scored on an assist by Kyle DeCrispino with 9:34 left in the first quarter to put the Bearcats up. After the Mocs tied the game up, Carter Wilcox and Oakey scored within a minute of each other to put Lander up 3-1. Florida Southern cut the lead to one goal with six minutes left in the quarter, but Michael Mattaliano and Kery Conroy scored late in the quarter to make it 5-2. Less than a minute into the second quarter, DeCrispino found Zane Dalpe for a goal to put Lander up 6-3. The Mocs outscored the Bearcats 4-1 over the final 10:30 of the half to tie the score at seven. Florida Southern would outscore Lander 8-3 in the second half to win.
Carter Wilcox led the Bearcats with three goals scored, while Nolan Oakey and Zane Dalpe each added two goals. DeCrispino scored one goal and had three assists. Nicholas Paige (6-2) took the loss in goal, allowing 15 goals and making 18 saves.
