GREENWOOD - Lander opened up their home schedule with a sweep of Coker, winning game one 9-0 and game two 8-0.
GAME ONE
Lander took the lead in the bottom of the first when Abbie Behe scored on a wild pitch. The Bearcats would add to their lead in the second on a solo home run by Jordan Sikes. In the bottom of the third, Behe led off with an infield single and scored on a triple by Logan Coward. Kenley Powell then singled to score Coward. The Bearcats would add two more runs on RBI singles by Sikes and Gracie Derrick to make it a 7-0 game. Lander added two more runs in the four to end the game after five innings.
Sikes was 3-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBIs and Derrick finished 3-3 with a run scored and RBI to lead the Bearcats. Taylor Scott (2-0) picked up the win, allowing just two hits and striking out five in five innings of work.
GAME TWO
In the bottom of the second, Emily Allen scored on a wild pitch, and Sikes scored when Saje Jones reached on a fielder's choice to give Lander the 2-0 lead. The Bearcats would double that lead with a two-run home run by Coward in the third. The Bearcats added four more runs in the fourth to close the win.
Coward led the Bearcats at the plate, going 2-4 with a home run, run scored, and two runs driven in, while Sikes was 2-2 with a double and two runs scored. Bailey Pattison (1-1) got the win, allowing five hits and striking out one in five innings of work.
