GREENWOOD -In a battle of two of the top teams in the region, #19 Lander held on to defeat Mount Olive 13-11 Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats got the scoring started 45 seconds into the game when Jeremy Wudrick found Kyle DeCrispino. DeCrispino would score again one minute later to give Lander the two-goal lead. After a Mount Olive goal, DeCrispino would assist on a goal by Bradley Brown and two goals by Zan Dalpe to make it a 5-1 lead with 7:46 remaining in the first quarter. Sean Reilly would add the final goal of the quarter for Lander as the Bearcats held a 6-3 lead after 15 minutes. Mount Olive would outscore Lander 6-2 in the second quarter to take a 9-8 lead into halftime.
Three and a half minutes into the second half, Wudrick would score to tie the game at nine, and four minutes later, he would find Carter Wilcox to give the Bearcats the lead again. Caedmon Ferrell would take a pass from Nolan Oakey to score with 2:43 left in the quarter to put Lander up by two.
After being held scoreless in the third quarter, the Trojans scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to tie the game at 11. Wudrick and Krew Conroy would score within 15 seconds of each other to give Lander the lead that they would hold on to.
Wudrick finished with three goals and two assists, and DeCrispino had two goals and three assists to lead the Bearcats. Nicholas Paige made 11 saves in goal to pick up the win.
