GREENWOOD - #19 Lander University outscored Coker 12-3 in the second half to take a 15-6 nonconference win Saturday afternoon.
The Cobras would score two first-quarter goals to take the lead after the first 15 minutes. Nolan Oakey would put the Bearcats on the board with a goal at the 9:23 mark, and 23 seconds later, Cater Wilcox would score to tie the game at two. Oakey would take a pass from Jeremy Wudrick and score to give Lander their first lead with 6:45 remaining in the half. Coker would tie the game up with 3:31 remaining in the half.
Just over three minutes into the third quarter, Oakey scored his third goal to give the Bearcats the lead again. One minute later, Wilcox would score again to make it 5-3. The Cobras scored at the 7:45 mark to make it a one-goal game, but Wilcox and Brandon Perkins scored within 25 seconds of each other to push the lead to three. The Bearcats would add three more goals in the quarter to take a 10-4 lead. Lander continued the onslaught in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Cobras 5-2 to win.
Oakey led the Bearcat attack, scoring three goals and dishing out two assists, while Wilcox added three goals. Perkins Added two goals, and Zane Dalpe had a goal and an assist. Nicholas Paige picked up his second win in goal, making four saves.
