ROCK HILL, S.C. - Coming off their second straight ten-win season, the Lander Field Hockey team had five players named to the All-South Atlantic Conference team, lead by first-team honoree
Victoria Hulst (Maarssen, Netherlands), as the league announced their postseason awards on Thursday morning.
Hulst was joined on the second team by teammates
Isabel Elenga (Hillegom, Netherlands),
Iris Van Der Does (Rotterdam, The Netherlands),
Lauren Punt (Maasdam, Netherlands), and
Leira Van Tilburg (Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands). Elenga, Punt, and Van Tilburg each earned their second-career All-Conference nods.
Lander's five players tied them for the most in the conference with league champion Newberry. This marks the second-straight season that Lander has landed five players on the All-Conference team and makes it 14 total All-Conference players in the program's short three-year history.
Hulst, the team's captain, tied for the team lead in goals with six, earning 12 points on 51 shots. She also recorded her third career defensive save to help preserve the team's 1-0 win over #8 Newberry on October 29th. Hulst adds her first All-Conference nod to her two All-SAC Tournament selections and her 2023 SAC Tournament MVP.
Elenga was one of the most consistent net-minders in the league this season. The junior from the Netherlands ranked in the top five in saves (4th - 60), save percentage (2nd - .822), goals against (5th - 13), and goals-against average (4th - 1.13). She also ranked sixth nationally in save percentage as well.
Van Der Does was the team's leading scorer as a freshman, netting six goals and tallying seven assists for 19 points on 46 shots. Her seven assists was tied for third in the conference and her 19 points were the most from a freshman in the conference.
Punt netted five goals and added five assists from the wing as her 15 points was second on the team behind Van Der Does. She also recorded three game-winning goals, tied for the most on the team with
Dusty-Rose Miller.
Van Tilburg was one of the best defenders in the league as she anchored a backline that held teams to one or fewer goals 11 times during the season. The sophomore also added three goals, including two game-winners, and an assist as well.
