TOCCOA, Ga. – At the completion of two rounds of the McCoy Wright Currahee Collegiate Invitational at Currahee Club, the Lander men's golf team sits in sole possession of seventh place in a field of 16 teams. The Bearcats are a collective 25-over, though showed a notable 11-stroke improvement from Round 1 to Round 2 and are only four shots behind fifth-place teams Catawba and Newberry.
Victor Larsson, who led the individual field after the first round, is the highest Bearcat in a tie for 11th at +1. Larsson shot a 3-under 69 on the par-72 course to start the day – with five birdies – and followed that up with a 76 in Round 2.
Gaston Edberg (+5) is second on the board for Lander in a 25th place tie after improving on an opening-round 76 with a second-round 73. Edberg has carded four birdies through 36 holes.
Edward Rahm, who's 8-over, improved greatly over his two rounds as he shot a 10-over 82 to start the day and closed with a 2-under 70. That impressive second round included six birdies and saw Rahm climb 32 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 37th.
In a tie for 48th is
Samuel Guigui-Baruchel after shooting 80-76 over his first two rounds to slot in at +12; Guigui-Baruchel has four birdies thus far.
Aaron Lin (+17) had an 81 in the first round – with an eagle 3 on the par-5 16th – and an 80 in the second.
Golfers will tee off at 9 a.m. for the third and final round tomorrow.
