MARTINEZ, Ga. - Lander University volleyball players Katie Miller and Lauren Dow were named Peach Belt Conference Player and Specialist of the Week, the office announced Monday.
This is the second-straight Player of the Week honor for Miller. Katie continued her hot start to the season, earning MVP honors at the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic in Alaska. In the Bearcats' first two games, Miller had 34 kills and 20 digs, with five total blocks. In the win over Biola, she hit .382. Katie's saved her best performance for 21st-ranked Alaska Anchorage. Katie finished with career highs in kills with 30 and points with 32. She also had two blocks and one ace as the Bearcats picked up the program's first win over a ranked opponent. She finished the week with 15 kills, 10 digs, three blocks, and 16.5 points in the win over Alaska Fairbanks. Katie had 79 kills, three assists, 41 digs, and ten blocks for the week. She averaged 4.93 kills per set and 2.56 digs per set, with three double-doubles.
Freshman Lauren Dow continued to dominate for Lander this past weekend, earning All-Tournament Team honors at the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic in Alaska. She would average a double-double in the team's four matches. In the Bearcats first two matches, Lauren would hand out 73 assists with 30 digs. In Lander's five-set thriller with #21 Alaska Anchorage, Dow dished out a career-high 44 assists with 15 digs and six kills in the program's first win over a ranked opponent. Lauren finished the week averaging 36.75 assists per match and 9.19 per set, 13.5 digs per match, and 3.375 per set.
