St. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Flagler scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on for a 7-5 win in the final game of a Peach Belt softball series.
The Bearcats scored two runs in the top of the first to jump out to an early lead. Gracie Derrick laced a one-out triple and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Barbara Cook. Emily Allen reached on an error, allowing Abbie Behe, who earlier walked, to score the second run of the inning. The Saints tied the game with a two-run home run in the bottom half of the inning.
Rylee Omahen drew a one-out walk in the top of the second and stole second and third base. She scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-2. Naya Jones drew a walk, stole second base, and later scored on a single by Derrick to give the Bearcats a two-run lead.
The score remained 4-2 until the bottom of the sixth when Flagler scored five runs on five hits to take a 7-4 lead. Lander scratched a run across in the seventh on an RBI single by Shannon Antonini, but it would not be enough.
Derrick was 3-4 with a triple, run scored, and an RBI to lead Lander at the plate, while Saje Jones was 2-4. Kamryn Akins (0-3) took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out three in five innings of work.
