COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Lander Track and Field teams took on what was probably their deepest competition of the season as they competed against several Division I programs as well as professional athletes in the Weems Baskin Invitational on the campus of the University of South Carolina. Lander saw one athlete place in the top three as well as several other program best marks set in the two day meet.
Pacing the Bearcats was
Riley Wolters in the women's high jump as she placed third with a jump of 1.40m, only behind two Division I athletes from South Carolina and College of Charleston.
Elsewhere on the field,
Addy Davis reset her program best mark in the javelin throw with a mark of 27.09m.
On the track, Ashley Eurle set program best marks in the 200m (27.50s) and 400m (1:02.27).
For the Men of Lander,
Jaden Watt-Martin set a program best in the 200m with a time of 23.10s and the 4x400m team of
Micah Davis,
Zeca Erias,
Ethan Waites, and
Riley Bird ran 3:45.51 in the debut race for the relay team.
The Bearcats will have the weekend off next week before they travel to Spartanburg to take part in the Hub City Invitational, hosted by Newberry College. That meet will be a one day meet on April 8th.
