MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Lander swept a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader from Georgia College Friday afternoon. The Bearcats won Game one 6-2 and game two 4-2.
GAME ONE
The Bobcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Bearcats took advantage of three errors in the top of the fourth to score two runs and tie the game up. In the top of the fifth, Logan Coward led off with a double to left-center and later scored on an infield single by Gracie Derrick to give Lander the lead. The Bearcats added three more runs in the seventh to take the win.
Derrick Led the Bearcat offense going 3-4 with two runs scored and two runs driven in. Abbie Behe also drove in two runs for Lander. Taylor Scott (10-4) picked up the win allowing two earned runs on four hits, and struck out one in seven innings.
GAME TWO
Saje Jones led off the game with a walk and moved up to second on a groundout by Derrick. A single up the middle by Behe scored Jones and gave Lander the early lead. The Bearcats added to the lead in the sixth with a two-run double by Emily Allen and an RBI groundout by Shannon Antonini to make it 4-0.
Allen led Lander at the plate, going 1-2 with a double and two runs driven in, while Behe was 1-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
Bailey Pattison (7-4) picked up the win allowing two unearned runs on ten hits and striking out five in seven innings of work.
