Four Placers Highlight Inaugural Track and Field Meet for Bearcats

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Lander Track and Field team competed for the first time this weekend and four Bearcats scored points for the Blue and Gold in their collegiate debuts.

The action started on Friday as Lander had three separate throwers place in their events. In the women's javelin throw, Addison Davis placed seventh with a throw of 24.86m and Alejandra Sabotino placed eighth with a throw of 24.43m. 

Scoring for the men on Friday was Malcom Johnson in the triple jump who placed in fifth with a third jump of 12.60m.

On Saturday, Gage Kukucka added to Lander's point total with an eighth place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.80m on his first attempt.

Other notable performances from the Women of Lander were Caroline Smith who just missed out on scoring points in the discus by two meters, Reagan Hunter who placed fourth in her finals heat in the 100m with a time of 12.94, and Ashley Eurle who ran 1:02.32 in the 400m.

For the Men of Lander, Micah Davis ran 11.19 in the 100m and 53.74 in the 400m.

Both teams are back in action next weekend as they travel to Columbia, S.C. to take part in the Weems Baskin Invitational on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
