Florence, S.C. - The Bearcats leave the city of Florence as the champions in their College Tennis Invitational. Lander defeated Mount Olive 5-0 on Saturday in their third match of the tournament. This is the fourth year in a row, fifth overall, that the Bearcats have taken home this title.
Markus Sorensen and Nick Beamish didn't give up a set to Mount Olive, as they won No. 1 Doubles 6-0. Hugo Regner and Matthew De Groot paired up in No. 2 Doubles to secure the point, winning 6-2 over their opponents.
Regner brought the second point to the Bearcats after a 6-2, 6-3 victory in No. 1 Singles. Ambroise Marchand didn't allow a point in the first set, going 6-0 and 6-3 in the second. Alexandre Crepy went 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 4 Singles slot, and Mouad Naoui gained the final point for the Bearcats scoring 6-1 in two straight sets.
Lander plays next Friday, Feb. 10th at home against Carson-Newman at 1:30 pm.
