GREENWOOD – Lander defeated Mount Olive 3-1 and Carson-Newman 3-0 Saturday in volleyball action, extending the program-record winning streak to 19 games.

With the score tied at six in the first set, The Bearcats got a kill from Olivia Dow to take the lead. The Trojans answered back with a point to tie the score again. Back-to-back blocks from Christina Aguayo and a block from Katie Miller and Lauren Dow would give Lander a three-point lead. Later in the set, Mount Olive would lead 22-21, but a bad set by the Trojans tied the score at 22. An ace by Lauren Dow gave the Bearcats the lead, and after another bad set by Mount Olive, Olivia Dow would end the set with a kill.
The Trojans came out on fire in the second set and raced to an 18-10 lead. Lander chipped away at the deficit and eventually tied the set at 22. Mount Olive would respond with three straight points to take the 25-22 victory to tie the match at one.
That seemed to wake the Bearcats up as Lander would dominate the following two sets, winning 25-13 and 25-15 to take the win.
Olivia Dow led all players with 17 kills, while Katie Miller added 10. Lauren Dow dished out 32 assists and had 11 digs, recording her 14th double-double of the season. Patricia Pantoja finished with a team-high 17 digs, and Christina Aguayo had 12. Blondie Penaflor had a game-high four blocks, while Annie Holesinger and Miller had three each.

The first set was a back-and-forth battle throughout the set. With Carson-Newman leading 17-15, Olivia Dow would take a pass from her sister Lauren for a kill to make it a one-point deficit. An ace from Sophia Schnider tied the score at 17. A block from Blondie Penaflor and Christina Aguayo and another ace from Schnider gave Lander a 19-17 lead, forcing an Eagle timeout. A Carson-Newman attack error would make it 20-17, but the Eagles responded with four straight points to take a 21-20. The two teams would then trade points until back-to-back kills by Aguayo and Lauren Dow gave Lander the 30-28 win.
With the score tied at six, The Bearcats got two kills by Aguayo and a kill by Olivia Dow, causing Carson-Newman to call a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Bearcats got a block from Penaflor and Lauren Dow to make it 10-6. Lander would go on to take the second set 25-19 to take a 2-0 lead. The Bearcats would roll in the third set 25-17 to pick up the sweep of the Eagles.
Olivia Dow again led the Lander attack with 15 kills, and Katie Miller added 14. Lauren Dow finished with a game-high 32 assists and had 14 digs. Patricia Pantoja led all players with 18 digs. Blonde Penaflor had five blocks, Olivia Dow had three, and Christina Aguayo had two.
