GREENWOOD - The Lander women's rugby team came away with a 36-3 victory over Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Lander moves to 3-2 overall this season with the victory.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 19-0 lead before Coastal scored a penalty kick.

Kaitlyn Ausmus got the scoring going for the Bearcats with an early try before Rachel Hammelman connected on the conversion to give the Blue and Gold a 7-0 lead.

Grace Taylor would be next to get a try for Lander before another conversion was made from Hammelman got the Bearcats to 14-0.

A try from Kayla Castillio got Lander to 19-0 before the Chanticleers hit a penalty kick to make it 19-3 before the half.

The Bearcats would score three trys and make one conversion in the second half.

Alexis Dallas, Kacey Reynoso, and Liz Sinatra would all have trys while Hammelman would make one more conversion to give Lander its 36-3 final score.
