GREENWOOD - The Bearcats were back in action tonight at Horne Arena as they continue Peach Belt Conference play. They played host to the Mountain Lions of Young Harris. Lander came into tonight's match with a record of 9-3, while the Mountain Lions were 3-10.
Before the match began, Senior setter Madilyn Reed was recognized for her outstanding achievement of 4,000 career assists. She is only the second player in Lander Volleyball history to do so. Coaches Jeff Reynolds, Kathryn Sette, and Pilar Onstead presented Madilyn and her mother with a game ball with her name and achievement on it.
The first set wasn't much of a contest after the first few points. Christina Aguayo, Maya Walker, and Annie Holesinger all had four kills a piece. This led to the dominant win over Young Harris, 25-9.
The second set started much like the first one with some back-and-forth points, but it was all Lander after that. Katie Miller led the Bearcats with five kills, and Patricia Pantoja had seven digs. Bearcats pull away late and win, 25-17.
The third set was much more like the first set as the Bearcats pulled away and never allowed the Mountain Lions to get back in it. LU had a combined five kills and put this one to bed early. Bearcats win, 25-10.
Lander will be back in action this Thursday at 7:00 PM as they travel to Georgia College to continue Peach Belt Conference play.
