Men's lacrosse travels to No. 4 Limestone on Wednesday

GREENWOOD – After coming away with an 8-6 win in Savannah, Ga., over Embry-Riddle, the Lander men's lacrosse team will travel to No. 4 Limestone on Wednesday.

STORYLINES

  • Lander stopped a three-game losing skid with an 8-6 win over Embry-Riddle in the first meeting between the two sides.
  • Carter Wilcox led the Bearcats with three goals against the Eagles. Five other Bearcats had one goal each. Krew Conroy led the Bearcats in assists with two while being tied with Wilcox in points with three. Wilcox was also the leader in ground balls with six. Jaxon Brandt led Lander in caused turnovers with two while three other Bearcats had one caused turnover each.
  • Liam Mackay started the contest and made five saves while allowing no goals to earn the win.
  • Lander leads the PBC in goals scored (138), goal margin (+5.6), shot percentage (.350), groundballs (407), and total clears (192). Lander has also caused the second-most turnovers (92) while being tied for the fewest goals allowed with Montevallo this season (88).
  • Wilcox leads Lander in goals scored with 26 while Adam Mather is second with 23. Mather is the leader in assists with 16 and points with 39. Wilcox is second in points with 32.
  • Wilcox leads the Bearcats in ground balls with 27 while Jake Watson is close behind with 26. James Linn leads the way in caused turnovers with 10 while Watson has won a team-high 67 faceoffs this season.
  • In the nation, Lander ranks seventh in total assists (68), third in clearing percentage (.906), second in ground balls (407), second in ground balls per game (45.22), fourth in total points (206), 12th in scoring margin (+5.56), 12th in scoring offense (15.33) and eighth in shot percentage (.350).

  • Dorian Faster and Ethan Stannard both had three goals and three points. Carter Brand had three assists to join the three-point club against the Railsplitters.
  • Kendall Collins and Tim Ladner both had five groundballs while Collins and Moses Allen led the way with two caused turnovers each.
  • William Baxter played the first 30 minutes of the contest where he made eight saves while allowing just one goal. Baxter earned the win against LMU.
  • Chris Erneston leads the Saints in goals with 18 and points with 20 (18 g, 2 a).
  • Gavin Kesselrin is the Saint's leader in assists with nine.
  • Baxter is the team's leader in ground balls with 52 while Kyle Keesee is the Saint's leader in caused turnovers with 11.
  • Baxter has played and started all seven games for Limestone. He's played over 339 minutes while making 79 saves. He holds a 6-0 record so far this season.
  • Limestone travels to Tusculum on March 26 for its next match while Lander hosts Lees-McRae on March 26 as well.
