GREENWOOD - The 9th-ranked Lander men's tennis team came out after a 12-day layoff on fire, defeating the University of Illinois Springfield 6-1 Thursday afternoon.
The Bearcats picked up the double's point with a 6-2 victory by Hugo Regner and Nick Beamish and a 6-4 win by Matthew De Groot and Markus Sorensen.
Regner and Nicolas Chan won their singles matches in three sets, while Beamish, Alexandre Crepy, and Emilien Baradel won in straight sets to secure the victory.
This weekend, Lander opens up Peach Belt play as they travel to the Peach State to take on North Georgia Saturday and Young Harris on Sunday.
