GREENWOOD – The Lander men's lacrosse team is ready for a brand-new season as it travels to face Chowan on February 5 to begin the 2022 season.

STORYLINES
- After competing in the inaugural season of Peach Belt Conference lacrosse last season, the Bearcats are looking to improve on last season.
- The Bearcats were picked to finish third in the 2022 preseason coaches' poll. Lander finished third last season. Montevallo and Alabama-Huntsville were picked to finish first and second.
- Flagler and Young Harris will be joining the fun this season for men's lacrosse.
- Krew Conroy, James Linn and Adam Mather were all named to the All-Conference preseason team.
- Mather returns as the team's leader in goals, assists and points from last season.
- The Bearcats faced Chowan for the first time in program history, coming away with an 11-3 victory to begin the 2021 season.
- Drew Wilson and Conroy led the team with three goals each against the Hawks last season. Mather had a team-high two assists while Conroy led the Bearcats in points with four.
- Liam Mackay made 10 saves after playing over 543 minutes to earn the win.
- Chowan went 1-11 last season and 0-6 in Conference Carolinas.
- The Hawks only win last season was at Wheeling, winning 16-6.
- Chowan was picked to finish last in the 2022 Conference Carolinas preseason poll. Belmont Abbey was picked to finish first with 33 points while Mount Olive was close behind with 32 points.
- Lander stays on the road, as it travels to face Anderson on February 12 for its next contest.
