GREENWOOD – Lander picks up two one run victories Saturday, defeating Mars Hill 5-4 in game one and West Georgia 9-8 in game two.

Sage Jones led off the inning with an infield single and stole second. Bridgett Tierney then laid down a bunt single and advanced to second as Jones reached third base. Jones scored on an infield single by Shannon Antonini to give the Bearcats the lead. A double steal by Tierney and Antonini put runners at second and third. Tierney then scored when Haven Pesce reached on an error, and a two-run single by Barbara Cook made it 4-0. |

The Lions cut the Lander lead in half with two runs in the inning. |

Regan Sienkiewicz reached on an error to lead off the inning, and Jillian Terpenning would pinch run for her. Terpenning immediately stole second to get into scoring position. A single by Tierney moved Terpenning to third and then scored on a sacrifice bunt by Antonini to give Lander a three-run lead. |

Mars Hill made it a one-run game with a two-run single by Farley Park. |

Sage Jones again led off the game with a infield single and stole second. Bridgett Tierney moved Jones to third when she reached on an error. Tierney stole second base and then Shannon Antonini hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Jones and moving Tierney to third. Tierney then scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.. |

For the second time in as many at bats, Jones led off the inning with an infield single. Tierney then dew a walk to put two runners on base. Haven Pesce later singles up the middle to score both runners and make it a three run game. |

West Georgia would tie the game up on back-to-back home runs. |

The Bearcats took advantage of four walks and a hit batter to score four runs without recording a hit in the inning and take an 8-4 lead. |

Barbara Cook drew a walk to lead off the inning and Kyrah Phelix pinch ran for Cook. Gracie Derrick then laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Phelix into scoring position. The Bearcats sent pinch hitter Abbie Behe to the plate and she would single to left field, scoring Phelix and giving Lander the win. |
