Women's basketball welcomes Clayton State to Horne Arena Saturday

GREENWOOD, S.C. -  After scoring a season-high 105 points Wednesday night in a win over Augusta, #10 Lander welcomes Clayton State to Horne Arena Saturday at 1:30 PM in Peach Belt action.

STORYLINES

  • Lander ran past Augusta 105-66 Wednesday night.   
  • The Bearcats outscored the Jaguars 21-8 in the first quarter, with Zamiya Passmore and Makaila Cange scoring 10 points each in the period.
  • Cangé had a career night in the win. She broke the school record for points in a game with 43 and field goals made with 16. She also pulled down a season-high 18 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. 
  • Passmore added 24 points for Lander with nine assists, while Miriam Recarte scored 11 points and had seven blocks.   
  • Lander currently holds an 11-game winning streak over Clayton State in their series. The overall series is tied at 20. The Lakers' last game won was December 17, 2015, when they defeated Lander 82-61.  
  • Lander leads the Peach Belt and NCAA Division II in assists per game (19.2). They are also leading the PBC and third in the country in field-goal percentage (47.8), first in the conference and fifth in the country in scoring offense (83.8) and second in the PBC, and fifth in scoring margin (22.2). The Bearcats lead the PBC in assist-turnover ratio (1.13) and blocked shots per game(4.9).   • Zamiya Passmore leads the PBC in scoring (22.1) and is second in assists (73).
