Bearcats return home to host Jaguars Wednesday

GREENWOOD, S.C. -  #10 Lander returns to Horne Arena Wednesday to host Peach Belt rival Augusta University at 5:30 pm. All Lander University faculty, staff, and students attending tomorrow's game can receive a free drink and popcorn with a valid Lander ID.

STORYLINES

  • In a battle of top-15 teams, North Georgia defeated Lander 69-68 Saturday afternoon.    
  • After scoring a season-high 31 points on Wednesday against USC Aiken, Zamiya Passmore led all players with 25 points to go along with four steals and three assists.
  • Makaila Cangé added 11 points for Lander and appearing for the first time since the break; freshman Vashae Rideout scored 10 points.  
  • The Bearcats and Jaguars are locking up for the first time this season.   
  • Lander currently holds a 15-game winning streak over Augusta in their series. The Jaguars' last time won was December 7, 2013, when they defeated Lander 65-51.  
  • Lander leads the Peach Belt and is second in NCAA Division II in assists per game (18.3). They are also first in the conference and ninth in the country in scoring offense (82.0) and second in the PBC, and eighth in scoring margin (20.8). The Bearcats lead the PBC in assist-turnover ratio (1.11), field-goal percentage (46.5). They are also second in assists (220), blocked shots (49), block shots per game (4.1), and rebound margin (4.6).
  • Cange currently leads the PBC and is fifth in the country in field-goal percentage (64.4), first in the conference, and sixth in Division II in offensive rebounds per game (4.8), first in the PBC double-doubles (7), and free-throws made (60). She is also second in the conference in points per game (19.8).   
  • Miriam Recarte leads the conference and is 8th in blocked shots (32), and leads the Peach Belt, and is 9th in the country in blocked shots per game (2.67).
  • Zamiya Passmore leads the PBC in scoring (21.9) and is second in assists (64).
  • Last time out, Augusta defeated Young Harris 69-52 Saturday.
