Box Score GREENWOOD – The Lander men's lacrosse team fell in a battle of PBC unbeatens on Saturday, dropping an 18-8 decision to Montevallo at Van Taylor Stadium.
Montevallo opened the afternoon with three quick goals before Alex Ellis put the Bearcats on the board with 6:32 remaining in the first quarter. Drew Wilson found the back of the net at the 3:05 mark of the period to pull the Bearcats within one, but the Falcons answered with a score in the closing seconds to take a 4-2 lead into the second quarter.
Trailing 5-2 in the second quarter, Quinn Ingalls and Micah Oslund each scored to trim the deficit to 5-4. However, the Bearcats would not pull closer as Montevallo took a 6-4 lead at halftime and used an 8-1 run in the third quarter to seal the win. The loss is Lander's first ever at home, as the Bearcats won the first seven home contests in the program's existence.
