GREENWOOD – The No. 6-ranked Lander men's tennis team closed out an unbeaten campaign at home as the Bearcats defeated Flagler, 4-3, on Thursday afternoon at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.
Lander (12-1) is now 6-0 at home this year. The Bearcats secured the No. 2 seed in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament with the win and are now assured of hosting a PBC Tournament semifinal match.
The Bearcats used Kim Oshiro and Jamieson Nathan's 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles and Adam Elliget and Hugo Regner's 7-6 triumph on court one to earn the day's first point. Mikael Erler opened singles action with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3. Regner followed with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at the No. 5 slot to give Lander a 3-0 lead. Flagler got on the board with a win at No. 1, but Tommaso Rossin earned a 6-2, 7-5 win on court six to clinch the match. Flagler took the final two points of the afternoon.
Lander will host a PBC Tournament semifinal match on Apr. 26.
