Men's golf prepares for the PBC Championship

GREENWOOD – The Lander men's golf team is set to travel to St. Augustine, Fla., as it competes in the PBC Championship.

STORYLINES

  • The Bearcats will compete at the Slammer & Squire-World Golf Village from April 16 through the 18. The three-day tournament will see the teams play a round per day.
  • The 18-hole course stretches 6,939 yards.
  • Lander most recently finished eighth at the Cougar Invitational. Linus Jonsson led the Bearcats after tying for fourth with a two-over-par tournament.
  • The Bearcats finished in the top five as a team twice in the regular season. The Blue and Gold placed fifth at the Spring Kick-off and finished first at the Hurricane Invitational.
  • Jonsson was recently named Freshman of the Year. Jonsson is leading the Bearcats in average stroke with a 72.33 stroke average.
  • Maxime Legros, who was named to the All-Conference second team is second on the team in stroke average with a 72.39 average.
  • Both Jonsson and Legros have placed in the top-10 three times with the two golfers combining for three top-five finishes.
  • Lander finished fifth in the last PBC Championship in 2019.
