GREENWOOD – The No. 20 Lander men's golf team is set to compete in its next tournament as it hosts the Bearcat Classic this Monday and Tuesday.

STORYLINES

• After finishing fifth and first in their last two tournaments, the Bearcats are now ranked among the top-25 teams in Div. II. Lander was ranked 20th in the most recent coaches poll.
• Lander most recently finished first at the Hurricane Invitational, shooting 865 as a team (288+289+288).
• Junior Maxime Legros led the Bearcats with a five-under-par tournament. He led all PBC golfers at the event and finished tied for second. Two other Bearcats placed in the top-10 as well, as freshman Linus Jonsson finished tied for sixth after shooting one-under-par and sophomore Valentin Peugnet finished tied for eighth after shooting par for the tournament. 
• Both Legros, Jonsson and Peugnet are currently in the top-10 among PBC golfers for stroke average. Legros is tied for third with a stroke average of 70.7, Jonsson is currently ninth with a 71.7 average while Peugnet is 10th with a 71.8 average.
• The Bearcats are fourth in scoring average with an average score of 291.2. Lander has played the most rounds out of all the PBC schools so far this season.
• The Bearcats will be going up against the likes of Georgia College, Coker, King, Belmont Abbey, North Georgia, Mount Olive, Erskine, Barton, West Georgia, Flagler, Lenoir Rhyne, Carson Newman, Newberry, Young Harris, Anderson, Lincoln Memorial, Catawba, Southern Wesleyan, North Greenville and Emmanuel.
• The Bearcat Classic will take place at the Greenwood County Club. It will consist of two rounds on the first day and one round on the second. The course is a par 72 and stretches 6,800 yards.
